As you may know SCYC, School Community Youth Coalition has been in an extensive transformation process over the past year and is now excited to introduce ourselves the School Community Youth Collaborative. We have also gone through the process of updating our mission and vision to the following:
Our Vision: Our youth are valued and thriving members of the community.
Our Mission: SCYC creates pro-social opportunities for youth to build healthy relationships and to engage in their communities through sustainable collaborations with youth and organizations in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
We have had a great team: Chuck McAfee, Julia Hesse, Kellie Willis, Vangi McCoy and Rebecca Larson, who have been invaluable in helping us to establish what SCYC will be going into the future. As always we greatly appreciate everyone else that continues to show their support!
We have two wonderful AmeriCorps members that you may get to work with over the next year. We are thankful that Cindy Houston, the youth programs coordinator has chosen to continue for a second year. Tyra Hughes is new to the organization and is the coordinator for the Teen Maze and will work with the Montelores Early Childhood Council to coordinate the Early Childhood Celebration, family nights and professional development opportunities. We are very excited to have both of these talented women working with us!

Our new website will be www.scyclistens.org; however, we are currently working on designing it and will have it up within a couple of months.
SCYC Meetings
There will be no more SCYC meetings for the remainder of the year. We plan to have a big celebration for the transformed SCYC in February. Please watch for an announcement for more details. We are also working on a fundraiser that will be a whole lot of fun! More information will be coming to you within the next week.
